Year in Review – A challenging, but rewarding, year

It’s been an extraordinary and challenging year, I’m sure we’d all agree.

From a saddening start to the year – marked by the devastating bushfires – and all that has happened since then, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the trail of devastation it’s left in its wake.

From changes to the way we shop, eat and socialise to drastic changes in legislation, there is no doubt that COVID flipped everything we knew on it’s head.

Despite these challenges, or perhaps because of them, 2020 saw a lot more humanity rise to the surface in the way we interact and deal with each other and perhaps for that reason it was a blessing in disguise.

Despite all this, I am proud to say that calendar year 2020 marked Masco Group’s most important year of growth to date. Our staff worked diligently to overcome odds that were not stacked in our favour, helping us secure new work and complete existing projects within expected timelines – no easy feat given the COVID curveball that disrupted the way we work!

Masco Group was awarded several key projects this year, spanning commercial, remedial, industrial and more (our projects can be viewed at mascogroup.com.au if you’re interested).

We also took 2020 as an opportunity to significantly ramp up our digital presence, starting with a rebrand that put our visual aesthetic more in line with the values and aspirations we hold.

This year also gave us the opportunity to give back more than ever before, something we are humbled by and grateful for. Between COVID and the bushfires, the extent of suffering in the community moved us and inspired us to step up and give a helping hand, partnering with Brothers in Need to sponsor their work and personally participating in Homeless Run.

We also invested in more grassroots work in 2020, sponsoring Volkz Jiu-Jitsu Academy. I’m personally quite passionate about Jiu-Jitsu and martial arts in general – I believe the discipline, focus and control that they teach are unparalleled. To help an organisation offer such services to the youth is truly an honour. I know that the youth who partake in these programs will be better people for it and look forward to seeing future champions rise from their ranks!

I’d like to acknowledge and thank our staff for their hard work this year. It’s been a tough year and we are proud of everyone who has put in a tremendous effort.

I’d also like to thank my family and the families of all our staff – it is your patience that made our journey possible.

Finally, we’d like to thank the community for the support they have shown and for giving us genuine opportunities to give back. We look forward to continuing to support some very noble initiatives indeed.

I am determined to make 2021 an even bigger and better year for Masco Group. As Sydney, and Australia in general, begin to recover from the effects of COVID, I am eager to explore the unique opportunities and challenges that will no doubt present themselves. It will certainly be an interesting time but with an unrelenting here here at Masco Group, I’m confident we can take on whatever comes.
