2021 was a year of extraordinary challenges and difficult moments for all. After the struggles we all faced in 2020, Australians were looking forward to a return to normalcy – and 2021 seemed to have that in store for us until the Delta variant struck. The rise in Covid cases due to the new variant meant we saw borders close again and faced the strictest lockdowns since the start of the pandemic, making this another year for the history books.

The pandemic continued to radically change the way we engaged with the world around us. 2021 was a year of continued upheaval for the construction industry, with the industry shutting more than once, but Masco Group continued to grow despite these challenges. Our staff worked tirelessly, securing new work and ensuring that existing projects were completed on time.

Masco Group continued to deliver some of its most important projects to date, spanning commercial, remedial, and industrial work.

With the increased challenges facing the industry, Masco Group took the initiative to become pioneers in thought leadership. We launched Insights, an online publication that covers the most pressing issues and trends in the construction sector, to lead the way in developing an industry that serves all individuals.

Consistent with our values and aspirations, Masco continued to heavily invest in community initiatives. Not only have we maintained our relationships with Brothers In Need and Swim Brothers, but we have also partnered up with the Property Industry Foundation to redress homelessness among young people.

COVID-19 has also had a massive impact on the mental health of many construction workers, and Masco Group has worked tirelessly to raise awareness and advocate on behalf of many doing it tough.

Our success and community initiatives could not have been achieved without our staff’s hard work, and for that, I would like to acknowledge and thank them.

2021 was not easy – but our victories are a testament to the tremendous effort we have all put in. I would also like to thank the families of our staff, whose support does not go unnoticed. We are also incredibly grateful to the wider community for their support, and for inspiring us to continue to work towards our mission.

We look forward to making 2022 an even more successful year, and are hopeful that we will see this pandemic come to an end.
